Professional Bio

I come with almost 10 years of experience working with individuals presenting with diverse problems and circumstances. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and sleep problems. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals who have been struggling with core beliefs of “I am not good enough” or “I don’t matter”. I want to help those who want to be free of those lies. I encourage my clients to envision how their lives would be different if they actually believed they were “good enough” or that they “do matter.” What is envisioned is the life that we are striving towards in therapy.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I use EMDR therapy as the main intervention. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and purpose driven life, because it is not easy…but its worth it. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

EMDR Consultation

Why choose Dr. Billine Jourdan as your consultant?

Dr. Jourdan completed the EMDR training in 2016 while working on her doctorate at Florida Institute of Technology. She has experience working in a variety of treatment settings, with both children and adults, where EMDR has been used the main intervention. She currently works at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she uses EMDR to help veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. Dr. Jourdan has over 10 years of experience providing individual therapy and uses all of these skills in her approach to EMDR and consultation. Dr. Jourdan believes that with the correct training and use of EMDR, your patients will inevitably recover and overcome.
Dr. Jourdan sees her role as a consultant as more of a mentor for the consultee, providing guidance, feedback, and encouragement every step of the client’s journey towards self-actualization. She is an experienced EMDR provider working with dedicated professionals rather than an all-knowing guru. Dr. Jourdan believes there is something to learn from every individual therapy session and equally as much to learn in consultation. She takes pride in helping consultees develop all the necessary skills to be an effective EMDR provider and to successfully meet the requirements to earn their certification.

Dr. Jourdan provides various consultation opportunities for therapists interested in developing their EMDR therapy skills.
EMDRIA, the credentialing organization of EMDR Therapy, has a hierarchy of credentialing.

The first type of consultation occurs after the trainee completes the 40-hour Basic Training. This training includes a requirement of ten group consultation hours. Each trainee must complete these ten hours of consultation before earning their EMDR Basic Training Certificate. These group consultations are an hour long with four participants where the group discusses EMDR cases and experiences. These consultations are provided to strengthen the new trainee’s confidence in using this new skill.

After completing all the requirements for EMDR Therapy’s Basic Training trainees often want to become certified in EMDR Therapy, which is the next credential a trainee can earn. The requirements for Certification are below.

Twenty hours of consultation is required for EMDR certification. Ten of these hours must be individual (not in a group). Ten can be in a group but do not have to be. All twenty can be individual hours with an Approved Consultant. The consultee has a minimum requirement of doing 50 EMDR Therapy sessions with a minimum of 25 different therapy clients. If you do not have clients at this time or do not use EMDR Therapy regularly, you should not pursue this credential until you do. The requirements are strict, and the consultee has to demonstrate many skills to earn this credential.
